Kickboxing
Kickboxing is a combat sport that combines elements of boxing with kicks derived from martial arts, typically focusing on both punches and powerful, dynamic kicks. Originating as a blend of traditional martial arts and Western boxing, it has evolved into a popular sport practiced globally, both as a competitive discipline and a fitness activity.
In this class participants will learn how to defend themselves in times of danger using techniques from several different types of Martial Arts, such as; Taekwondo, Kung Fu, Krav Maga, Karate, Muay Thai, Boxing and Kick Boxing from our expert Instructors.
Learning Self-Defence skills equips students with the Self-Confidence they require to reduce panicking when encountering an immediate threat of fear or violence.
The core elements of kickboxing include learning:
- Striking Techniques: These involve punches similar to boxing (like jabs, crosses, hooks, and uppercuts) and kicks, which can target the legs, body, or head, depending on the kickboxing style and rules.
- Footwork and Movement: Practitioners emphasize balance, speed, and agility, with footwork that enables quick movement and positioning.
- Defensive Techniques: Blocking, dodging, and countering are essential to avoid incoming strikes while setting up offensive techniques.
Kickboxing is popular in fitness routines for its high-intensity, full-body workout, improving cardiovascular health, strength, flexibility, and coordination. Its combination of agility, strength, and speed makes it effective for self-defense, teaching skills useful for real-life situations, serving as a practical self-defense skill by training reflexes, awareness, and reaction speed.
